The WHEPP series of workshops was started in 1989 at TIFR, Mumbai with the purpose of bringing together phenomenologists from all over India and abroad to meet and set up working groups that would identify and work on important and relevant problems in High Energy Physics Phenomenology.

With this end in view, the number of plenary talks in WHEPP have always been kept to a mimimum (16-18 over a 2 week period). Typically, the mornings of the first week have been set aside for plenary talks, and the rest of the time (the afternoons of the first week and the whole of the second week) is devoted to working groups meeting, discussing and working on various problems of contemporary relevance.

At the end of the two week period, the coordinators of the various working groups present a report of the activities of each of the working groups. The work mentioned in these reports (which are reproduced in the proceedings, along with the plenary talks) eventually appear as published papers in standard journals.

The WHEPP meetings have been held every two years, and the web pages of some of the earlier WHEPPs are given in the menu on the left. The WHEPP series has been one of the great success stories of the High Energy Physics Phenomenology community in India, in which significant numbers of distinguished physicists from India and abroad have participated. WHEPP X being held this year in Chennai (for the third time) completes a cycle of ten worskhops.
